Muto – A Revolution in Mobility Management

What do you do when you have a successful SaaS product in a market that is rapidly changing? When you have over 200 satisfied customers in 25 countries managing 125k+ assets with your platform.

Moreover, what if you want to make the necessary strides in technology, usability and want to prevent custom functionalities per customer?

In 2023, this company embarked on a journey to revolutionize mobility management. Traditional fleet management, management of lease cars, was no longer sufficient; the market was shifting towards comprehensive mobility solutions for employees. This realization prompted them to reimagine their product, placing employees at the center of their strategy. The outdated concept of “fleet” no longer fit, leading to the birth of Muto – a name derived from the Latin word for “I change.”

CHALLENGE

Muto recognized several key challenges facing businesses today. First of all the need to be an attractive employer in the war for talent, offering personalized mobility options. Then the complexity of managing diverse mobility needs, from cars to bikes to home charging stations. And third, the adherence to stringent EU CO2 regulations and the increasing complexity of fleet management.

APPROACH

Muto simplifies these challenges by providing a seamless platform to manage all forms of business mobility, giving companies a comprehensive view of travel patterns, supplier management, and cost insights.

RESULT

  • The first version of Muto was launched within six months
  • It has received excellent feedback for its intelligent design and user-centricity
  • Collaboration with GO described as easygoing, proactive and high-quality

“We are mega happy with you as a partner. You guys don’t stop at the technology but really think along strategically.”

Starting with Product Discovery

To get the project off to a good start, a number of Product Discovery Workshops were held with end-users, subject specialists and account execs from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. Then followed by a ‘Foundation Phase’ to lay the foundation for technical, functional and UX design. After this phase, we started developing the Minimum Viable Product (MVP) based on a user-friendly UX/UI and a scalable cloud infrastructure. We called it an MVP, but strictly speaking it was not an MVP according to the formal definition, but a first commercial release. This first version was successfully launched after 6 months (check here if Muto is of interest to your company or start immediately with a free account using the button below). The product is now being further developed with a dual track agile approach.

Demanding

The application had to meet some special non-functional requirements and preconditions. For instance, there was a strong focus on security and compliance with ISO207001 among other things because of the processing of employee data and financial data. Scalability was crucial to be able to expand the application in case of increasing use or international growth. User-friendliness was key to provide an optimal user experience. In addition, the application needed high performance to handle peak loads, large visitor numbers and large amounts of data.

AWS Qualified InfraKit to Manage Infrastructure

To support Muto’s rapidly growing mobility platform, InfraKit was implemented to manage their cloud infrastructure. With InfraKit, Muto benefits from automated scaling, high availability, and enhanced security, ensuring their platform can handle increased demand without disruptions. The AWS Qualified Solution also guarantees compliance with industry standards, giving Muto a secure and reliable foundation. This allows Muto to focus on innovation, while InfraKit manages the complexities of their infrastructure behind the scenes.

“You are a fantastic partner, and I am grateful for the many qualities you bring to our project; strong adaptability, patience, but also decisiveness and perseverance at the right times…and much more 😊”

Why GlobalOrange?

Although Muto had a significant in-house tech team they chose to partner with GlobalOrange for two reasons:

  1. To speed up as their own team was occupied with the existing platform
  2. To have access to all the required SaaS development skills and capacity

They also had specific requirements: the platform had to be innovative and responsive to the latest market developments, use future-proof technology that was scalable, fast and easily expandable. There was also a desire to develop the product in a hybrid partnership. In addition, user-friendliness and a Product Thinking approach were essential.

Muto chose GlobalOrange because of the good click during the initial discussions. Our extensive expertise and experience in developing successful SaaS products gave them confidence that we could realize their vision and help them achieve their goals.

The collaboration in three words according to Eric and Paul: ownership, initiative and pragmatic
