GXO Logistics speeds up Albert Heijn’s fresh food chain with mechanised storage. GXO is an international logistics provider with more than 80 chilled distribution centres in Europe and 13 different distribution centres in the Netherlands. For Albert Heijn, GXO manages the Shared Fresh Center (SFC) in Nieuwegein of fresh produce, which in turn supplies all Albert Heijn branches.

CHALLENGE

To optimise the logistics process of Albert Heijn’s 100-plus suppliers, GXO (formerly XPO) Logistics asked GlobalOrange to develop a planning system with a link to their existing Warehouse Management System.

APPROACH

Focus on usability, scalability, performance and innovation. GlobalOrange has good experience with product development for the logistics sector and complex planning software. This knowledge contributed to building a successful product for GXO. An intuitive UX design was made to provide a complete user experience (UX). The system clearly displays the required information and is very easy to use, any time, any place.

Agile approach

GlobalOrange deployed an Agile Scrum development methodology during the development process. This involves working in short, repetitive steps to see quick results and continuously optimise GXO Logistics’ end product.
